My Body is a Temple ~ May Relief Society Meeting

You are like the temple. You are different from everyone else, but you too are a house for the Spirit of God—the Holy Ghost. The Apostle Paul said: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? … The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” (1 Corinthians 3:16–17). Your body is a temple for your spirit. Just as you treat temples with respect, you should treat your body with respect.

This month we will be discussing how our amazing bodies are temples for our holy spirits, and then pampering our bodies with facials, hand and foot treatments and information on ways to naturally help rejuvenation our bodies.

Date: Thursday, May 24, 2012
Time: 6:30 pm

Please do your best to be on time so that everyone can hear and participate in our spiritual message.

Garden Alert-Fertilizing and Pruning

Now might be a good time to fertilize your garden. If you are preparing for a spring garden where leaf growth is important, your garden might need additional nitrogen. You can add some composted manure. Stir it up and let it sit for a week or two before planting your spring vegetables. The Bishop has already planted some spring vegetables. If you're feeling lucky, you can try your luck against Mother Nature and Jack Frost as well.
If you are plating root vegetables, your garden might need additional potassium. (Who knew?) Add some potash for healthy root growth. Brother E just planted his potatoes after adding some potash, you can follow his experienced lead.
Another gardening alert, Valentine's Day is the day for pruning and fertilizing your citrus plants. Pruning citrus trees is mostly for aesthetics, but you might have a few unruly branches that need to go. Also, any branches that cross back over the plant block sunlight and make harvesting difficult. They can go as well. Add a handful of granular fertilizer just around the roots. Another option is a fertilizer spike that you pound in just outside the leaf perimeter of the tree. These are available at Wal-mart.
If you have any other garden tips for this time of year, add them in the comments!
